Rhinoplasty Information

One of the most popular cosmetic surgeries in the United States, the rhinoplasty procedure should be approached with special attention to detail due to the delicacy of the nose. Typically, Dr. Driscoll performs the “no scar approach” for cosmetic rhinoplasty; this is more commonly referred to as closed rhinoplasty. However, when performing revision nose surgery, he normally utilizes the open technique, which involves an incision made across the skin that separates the nostrils, or the columella. Closed rhinoplasty entails incisions made inside the nose.

During both closed and open rhinoplasty, Dr. Driscoll will expose the cartilage and bones in order to sculpt the nose into the patient’s desired shape. He can decrease or increase the size of the nose, alter the tip or bridge of the nose, and/or change the width of the span of the nostrils. Oftentimes, Dr. Driscoll may recommend chin augmentation or even a facelift to define the overall shape of the nose and complement the appearance of the nasal structure.

He is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology (ABOto) and the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery (ABCS), which qualifies him to perform procedures for the face, head, and neck, including facelift surgery (“rhytidectomy”). He is also a member of the Texas Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (TACS), the American Rhinologic Society (ARS), the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS), and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS). He received his training at the Culver City Ambulatory Care Center near Beverly Hills and attended Johns Hopkins University; Dr. Driscoll is a member of the Johns Hopkins Medical and Surgical Association, and the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association.
