The Tuba Technique

This is a “no scar seen” approach, performed since 1990. Medical literature has proven it to be safer, less invasive, and a quicker recovery. In contrast to the older ways that take 2-4 weeks for pain to subside, the bellybutton approach may only take two days for recovery. Dr. Driscoll’s patients often only require Tylenol for pain relief.

For these reasons, channels such as, KSLA TV NEWS 12, KVUE, KEYE, KXAN, KSAT, and FOX 29 pursued Dr. Driscoll to do a feature story on the transumbilical approach. In March and April of 2007, Dr. Driscoll was featured on the Montel Show and Dr. Phil Show respectively. In addition Dr. Driscoll was asked back to the Dr. Phil Show in August ‘07 regarding the subject of “trying to change your ethnicity with plastic surgery.

On this website you can see video clips showing actual patient’s perspectives before and after surgery. Most of their testimonies, state they went shopping or to work the next day. Two of the patients featured had surgery on a Friday, went shopping the next day (Saturday), and were back to work Monday morning. In addition, they only took one pain tablet the night after the surgery.

Dr. Driscoll also removes implants through the bellybutton. This is done for implant replacement due to implant deflations or, more recently, for women who want to change their breast implant size (smaller or larger). Two of the video clips depict one patient who Dr. Driscoll removed her implants through the bellybutton and placed smaller implants in their place. Of all the patients that Dr. Driscoll has changed their breast size, through the bellybutton, not one has taken a pain pill and all have gone back to their normal routine the day after surgery. Because breast implant size is the number one complaint with breast augmentation, this new technique of changing size is becoming a popular aspect of Dr Driscoll’s practice.

Dr. Driscoll’s first fellowship was at the prestigious medical center, Johns Hopkins Hospital during which he was the recipient of the National Medical Student Research Award. He then did a residency for an additional six years, incorporating facial plastic and head & neck surgery. In the year 2000, he then furthered his training with the prestigious American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery fellowship in Los Angeles/Beverly Hills, California with world-renowned doctors such as: Dr. Neal Handel and Dr. Fred Corbin. You may remember Dr. Handel from Discovery Channel, “Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery”.

Having performed over a thousand of these TUBA surgeries, Dr. Driscoll offers the experience required to give beautiful and natural results.
