The Liposuction Procedure

Dr. Driscoll typically performs tumescent liposuction at his Austin practice using a micro-cannula for more precision and control. He will inject a tumescent solution that contains saline and a dilute local anesthetic prior to fat removal. This pain-reducing cocktail will cause the area to get swollen and firm, overall minimizing bruising, swelling, and pain. Using the micro-cannula, Dr. Driscoll can suction fat from the target area, while contouring the shape. Common areas where liposuction is performed are the hips, thighs, abdomen, flanks/love handles, bulges under the armpits, back, and knees.

Additional procedures may be performed with liposuction, such as breast augmentation ("augmentation mammaplasty") and tummy tuck surgery ("abdominoplasty"), to achieve an optimal body reshaping outcome.
